The TuffCat T-66 mass fusion splicer from Sumitomo is one of the fastest, most efficient fiber optic fusion splicers on the market today. The TuffCat fiber optic fusion splicer combines fast splice times and long battery life with dual independent heat shrink ovens to improve your fiber optic splicing throughput and productivity. The T-66 fiber optic fusion splicer includes a built-in dual heating system that reduces your “heater wait time” by up to 88%.

A comprehensive range of optical fiber holders is available for the T-66 for splicing single optical fibers and fiber optic ribbons up to 12 cores. The FHM-2A, FHM-4A and FHM-6A holders include a 3M Trizact coating to increase their grip on the fiber optic ribbon, and reduce problems caused by ribbons slipping through the holder.

The T-66 uses Sumitomo's Full Focus with Equal Size (FFES) imaging system, first introduced on the T-63 fiber optic mass fusion splicer. FFES shows you all optical fibers on screen with the same magnification and with the ribbon image orientation the same way round as the ribbon itself. This simplifies identification of optical fibers on the splicer and helps avoid confusion between the splicer operator and OTDR operator when testing fiber optic fusion splices.
